To write again for SEEC is a trip down memory lane. It is also a time for self-reflection on growth.
When I first attended SEEC, I was still a university student grappling with who I am in life. I was young in faith though I grew up with Christ being taught and I was eager to gain intellect. Without a moment of doubt, SEEC satisfied that thirst for bible knowledge; but more importantly, God, in His goodness, made Himself known, connecting the dots between my head and my heart; and the brothers and sisters serving in SEEC nurtured me in growth. Hence followed year after year of joyful returning.
Many things have changed in the last couple of years, some of us have grown from youthful students to working adults (some probably hardened workers as well now!), or went from one to a family of two or even three. More noteworthy, I guess, would be the new norms developed as safety measures in this pandemic. 2021 is the first (and hopefully last) year that SEEC will be hosted online. Whilst in some areas, the workload for the organizing committee has significantly reduced; the two main challenges we face are the re-envisioning of what SEEC will be like online and how to reach out to those who yet to experience the depth of fellowship possible in SEEC.
Some may ask why continue when there are already so many alternative online options? And it is a valid question that we, as the organizing committee, must answer. For me, this is my answer to you: In the years gone by, God has been at work in SEEC – ministering to students and leading them homeward bound. These students, having been established in faith, go on to witness before a younger generation of Christ follower. At its 40th anniversary and future, I trust in His continual leadership in this ministry and echoing Uncle Anthony, praise His sufficient grace in all circumstances.
Until we meet again!
